The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I had this book on my “To Read” list even before it was selected for book club. After book club meets, I will amend this to include the thoughts of my favorite ladies and fellow bibliophiles.
Can you ever truly know someone? If you cannot trust your spouse, who can you trust? Hannah finds out the hard way that there is sometimes more than meets the eye. Her husband Owen, whom she has been with for 2 years, just disappears one day. He leaves for work and never returns home, instead sending a letter via a stranger with one simple sentence. Not only does he leave a vague note, but he also leaves behind his surly teenage daughter Bailey. Bailey is not a huge fan of her stepmother, but together they make a pact to do whatever it takes to find Owen. They have no clue what they are about to find.
The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave is action packed and full of twists, turns and surprises for the reader. Dave has created a cast of characters that are easy to relate to then made them unrelatable. I am very excited to see the Netflix mini series and I very much hope it is just as good as the book.
I am honestly not a huge fan of the ending, but I look forward to seeing what others think and I am not going to spoil it for anyone. I would recommend this book for people who liked Gone Girl or The Guest List. I t was a truly enjoyable read. Please leave comments below. I love hearing what you think.
