This Could Be Something by Victoria Jade
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This Could Be Something is Victoria Jade’s debut fantasy novel. Jade has written her book in third person limited and switches between Isla and Solomon. I love getting the POV of both characters and what they are thinking.
Isla is a first year college student. She is an only child who spent most of her childhood alone or wih neighbors as her parents travelled. As a result, she is a little socially awkward, has some trouble making friends and has definite trust issues.
Solomon is the son of the Premier of the Council and next in line. The Council protects the rights of those who are “bonded” and all that entails. It is kind of like a secret society for soul mates. Unfortunately there is tumult in the ranks of the Council about whether or not to go public and let the whole world know their secrets.
Solomon is please when he and Isla meet and he knows he has found his soul mate. That is until he explains it to Isla and she completely is opposed to the bond and a relationship with him. She cannot fathom that she could live a life she has not chosen for herself.
I absolutely loved the characters and plot. The twists and turns kept me intrigued and reading far into the night. I was left with one question… will there be a second book?
I recommend this book for any romance fantasy reader or for anyone wanting to dip their toe into fantasy reading. Victoria Jade has done an amazing job on her first time out and I cannot wait to read more from her!!
